I personally love this track and the musicians that play on ti!
In 1997 I had serendipitously met Joseph (JODY) Spence and we set out to come up with demos to decide what would go on my record.
We were given a budget of $400. per song, which isn't much by the time you rent a studio & musicians.
We set up shop in a studio we could afford and Jody played most of the instruments or hired friends to play for next to nothing. I am sure there were times Jody didn't make anything at all.
So we started writing songs in the studio to offset costs and we had to go fast to make it work, & they had to be good enough to turn them in!!!!
I think this was one the 2nd such 'Quickie songs' we recorded. I began to get my best results with everyone working do fast they didn't have time to over think it. It was a rush doing it this way. I remember it would sometimes make my hands sweat...because I had to turn these in & like I said ...they had to be good, it was my main source of income & I had children to support.
My biggest regret on this song was that the trumpet couldn't be real...this one always screamed 'LOVE BOAT' to me. Cruise ship music LOL.
My favorite thing about this song is Jody's bass, I wanted something pop you could dance to & for 400. this is how our experiment came to fruition!
